Thank You For Your Support!!!
Now that it's a few days past the primary election, I'm almost done licking my wounds (as I write from under the covers of a comfy bed).
I wanted to thank all my friends for supporting me in all my crazy endeavors. Running for mayor was not on my list of things to do a year ago, but when I see our city with a noticeable void in leadership -- and the only alternatives offered being taking a dozen steps backward or 'staying the course' with inaction...it says something.
Thank you for sharing my passion. And thank you all for holding me accountable -- and making me take representing you seriously and professionally. Anyone who knows me in person knows that I've suffered from SERIOUS F-BOMB deficiencies over the last 6 months. Being a professional is HARD.
Sadly, I still don't see the overall leadership changing in our city. I have had Joe Hogsett's team stalking and harassing me, demanding that I now OWE him an endorsement.
James 2 has a verse that states that Prayer Without Action is Dead. You beg us to trust you, but we have never seen the work. Joe, you studied divinity, so this verse should have been on the tip of your tongue these last seven and a half years. We, the people, are not the divine, but the message is still clear; if you want our blessing, you will need to earn it.
For everyone else, I've seen friends, old and new alike, who felt that their requests were not being heard, and they took things into their own hands. And they've made lives better. They've raised awareness. They've advocated for those that no one would listen to. They have seen the void in our community and closed these holes with little to no resources.
You are all rockstars.
I will be here to advocate for you. I will be boots on the ground when you need me to be. And I will focus on the issues that I feel best equipped for. The day of the election, I was out stocking overdose reversal kits. I was working with our near-east side leadership. Yesterday, I spoke with faith-based leaders to see WHERE WE GO NEXT. I've been talking to elected officials that I trust...and honestly, this is not a very large list. But I am trying to work within the lines where I can, but if our elected officials do not act, they need to know I will be stepping on toes and stepping over lines I was told not to cross because you deserve better.
For anyone expecting a conciliatory post...DO BETTER, and then we can talk.

BTW I will be continuing to write in this newsletter, but it will be a little more sporadic and more of a call to action. Again, thank you for your support!
