An Announcement
Hello friends,
By now, you may have heard that I have decided to run for Democratic lieutenant governor. It was not a decision I made lightly, and I had hoped not to make it. My plan for the next few years was to hang up the suit and focus on getting through to early retirement so I would be free to pursue the next phase of my life.
But sometimes circumstances don’t allow sitting on the sidelines. Sometimes, action is the only thing that you can do.
Why Now
Without digging too far into the negative, on the right, we have a candidate who believes that a Christian Nationalist state with women in the kitchen, LGBTQ+ criminalized, and a promise to destroy public schools and shut down any discussion in the Indiana Senate that is too ‘woke.’
On the Left, we have a man who just a few years ago voted against gay marriage, voted against women’s reproductive rights (“I’m pro-life. I’m not pro-abortion.”) and believes that 4-year-olds should own guns. If you think I’m kidding, read this from his own words 5 years ago.

Too many politicians focus on what the other folks are doing, and I’ve been guilty of this in the past so lets discuss why I’m running.
Hi, I’m Clif Marsiglio. Hoosier.
Born in Centerville, Indiana. I grew up between my home in Indiana, and in Benton, Arkansas, a small town south of Little Rock where my father split his time as a union rep for ALCOA. I am a Christian. I am a part of the Church of Brethren. My faith defines who I need to be. It doesn't define how anyone else should live their lives.
For much of my adulthood, I have worked on bettering higher education, making it more accountable, and focusing on continuous improvement. I have started a few businesses, some more profitable than others. I trained to be a mental health clinician with a graduate degree in Clinical Psychology from Indiana’s only Primarily Black University — Martin University.
My values are that bodily autonomy is your business, not someone else’s. The right to love is your right, and no one can tell you who to love. I believe a woman’s place is wherever she damn well decides it should be. I believe abortion is health care. I believe mental health is medical health. I believe everyone should be lifted up, and equality is not the same as equity. I believe in restorative justice, not retributive justice.
And I have never once had to apologize for these beliefs.
Why does this matter?
Here in Indiana, we have the lowest turnout rate in the nation when it comes to voting. I can understand why. Corporate Democrats are almost imperceptible from Republicans. Corporate Democrats tell themselves they are the mainstream when they hedge their values. This is the polling that came out this week:
The fact of the matter is, my values are the values in the mainstream, while democrats have told themselves that they need to go further and further right to vote for the people who’ve already committed to voting for Republicans — while 40% of the registered voters stay home because they believe their choices are Republican or Republican-Lite.
Dems like to say we are a Blue State with a Turnout Problem. I believe we are a Blue State with Underwhelming Choices.
Why Me
Because I am the candidate who can bring the votes back and deliver a balanced ticket.
We deliver a balanced ticket by centering around the base that will vote for us. Not centering it around a base who has already decided what kitchen women should be in. We deliver votes by inspiring those who have sat out, not by begging those who have decided to dehumanize those who most need our support.
My name is Clif Marsiglio. I am a Progressive / Left-Leaning Democrat running for lieutenant governor of Indiana, and I want your support.
Call To Action
I am writing this mostly for Indiana Democratic Party delegates. I have been told there are seats available throughout the state for anyone who wants to be a delegate. The state convention is July 13, 2024, in a little over two weeks and I am trying to convince the majority of the delegates that we can do better.
If you’d like to volunteer as a delegate, go to this page if you are in Marion Country.

Or, if you are anywhere else, email info@indems.org and ask them who your representative is.
Please share this with your friends. Please post on Social Media. If you know a delegate, call them up. If you a delegate, tell another. If the Indiana Democrats have continued to underwhelm you, tell the world you want more.
And if you are good at writing — and have a quick turnaround time and want to volunteer for OUR cause — or if you are good with graphics and social media — let me know. We can change our party for the better.
